TOPIC: THE BENEFITS OF ENGAGING THE HEART IN PRAYER

SCRIPTURE: And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord. Jeremiah 30:21.

THOUGHT: When you engage your heart in prayer, God’s Presence is attracted to you. Previously, we saw that engaging the heart in prayer is the key to praying effectively. Now, what are the benefits of engaging the heart in prayer?

1) Securing God’s Attention

One benefit of engaging your heart in prayer is securing God’s attention. This is because God looks at the heart when you pray and not your outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7). So, when you see someone shaking themselves while praying, God does not look at the shaking but their heart. And when you engage your heart in prayer, God’s Presence is attracted to you. Isaiah 65:24 says, And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

The question is, what is God answering?It is what is in the heart.

2) The Confirmation of the Presence of Faith.

Another benefit of the engaging your heart in prayer is the confirmation of the presence of faith. When you engage your heart in prayer, you believe that God will answer you. You believe in what you are doing because your whole heart is there. Romans 10:10 says, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The engagement of the heart confirms that you know that you are not wasting your time and that what you are praying for must happen. And you know, whenever God sees faith, He moves (Hebrew 11:6). Therefore, make up your mind to move God by conforming your faith through the engagement of your heart in prayers. Remember this: When you engage your heart in prayer, God’s Presence is attracted to you.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Make up your mind to secure God’s Presence by engaging your mind in prayers.
2. Cast out doubts and fears when you pray. Put your trust absolutely in God.

PRAYER: Father, I ask that You clothe me with Your Presence. I receive the grace and discipline to dwell in Your Presence, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.
